Tips for Making the Most of Hotel Parking

Whether you are traveling for business or pleasure, you need to always be aware of the measures that come into play. This means thinking about the full cost and considerations of your stay — including hotel parking. Most importantly, you should get to know whether or not your hotel provides parking or if you need to make arrangements for it. The parking situation is a matter that guests often overlook, yet is one of the most critical pieces to the puzzle.

Read below in order to learn more about hotel parking and how it can affect you.

See if hotel parking is included or if you have to buy parking packages

First things first, you need to read through your hotel policy and booking information in order to see if parking is included. In most cases, the hotel will have parking on-site that is included for guests. You may be able to park with no issue, or you may be limited to a single space that you have to pay for.

Regardless, the hotel will take your vehicle information — including the year, make, and model of the automobile and the license plate information. Generally, you will also need to show them a copy of your driver's license so that they can take it and make a copy for their own records. If you do have to pay for marking, make sure that you get to know the set price for the parking pass, how long it lasts, and whether or not it can be transferred to a guest. Once you weigh these costs, you will have a better idea of whether or not it fits into your travel plans.

Keep your vehicle safe during your hotel stay

On top of managing your parking pass information, you will need to take steps to keep your vehicle safe. When possible, park your vehicle directly below a light so that a thief won't feel as comfortable trying to break in. Do business with hotels that have surveillance cameras on-site, and make sure that you always lock up your vehicle and don't leave any valuables in plain sight. Get an insurance plan on any rental vehicle that you book as well, just in case anything happens to it.

Having easy access to a car when you are traveling is a must-have. It allows you to have a flexible schedule and enjoy taking in the sites. Consider your hotel parking so that you know you will have easy access to your car.
