Destination Wedding Or Elopement? Which Is Best For You?

With coronavirus still in full swing, many people are choosing to take control of how, when, and where they get married. For example, many people are eloping or choosing to have a destination wedding with a select group of guests. There are many reasons why someone may choose to elope or have a destination wedding, such as wanting to keep the guest list small, eliminating potential COVID-19 spread, or making your wedding part of your honeymoon. If you have decided you are going to go somewhere for your wedding, you may wonder if you should invite guests to come or just go off with your fiance. That is the main difference between an elopement and a destination wedding.

In an effort to help you decide which would be better for you, here are a few things to consider.

Financial Situation

Your financial situation may greatly determine the type of wedding you choose. When paying for a destination wedding, most of the time the couple will be paying for their wedding party to join them on location and providing for their accommodations. If your parents are paying for your wedding, you may have a very strict budget that either limits the number of people who are able to attend or may make your decision for you. Eloping is usually much cheaper than destination weddings since only the couple will need to be paid for.

Tradition

If you are someone who enjoys traditions you may want to think about doing a destination wedding. It can be hard to go to weddings your whole life and then have your wedding be something very different where you are not surrounded by family and friends. Elopements are really good for people who do not hold traditional weddings in high regard.

Family Relationships

Your family dynamics can make planning a wedding challenging. For example, if there are certain members of your family who you do not want to come, it can be awkward to invite all of your other people while leaving them out. If there are several people who you would not feel comfortable having at your special day, you may want to think about just eloping instead of dealing with all of the drama.

In conclusion, whatever you choose, make sure that you and your fiance are on the same page. Ultimately, you two are the only ones that matter. Whether or not you choose to include others on your big day, make absolutely sure that you both feel completely confident and comfortable with your decision. Live your new life together with no regrets. Good luck on your big day!
